April 3rd, 2016, saw 8 International Baccalaureate students from St.Peters' School shifting sawdust mulch from a stockpile to locations around plants that the Tree Trust had planted a couple of years before.
They worked very well indeed, and shifted the entire stockpile, about 3 truckloads, in 3 hours including a morning tea break. They worked in the rain, during some heavy showers (they had wet weather gear) and never turned a hair, wet or dry.
The video has been themed musically. One of the students had a player on which he had some AC/DC material. One item was "Highway to Hell." That's at the front of the video. At the back is Franz Liszt's precursor work, the Mephisto Waltz #1. The piece in the middle, Can-can, is officially Jaques Offenbach's overture to Orpheus in the Underworld. It doesn't fit all that well at normal speed, but the chance to link the bookends couldn't be passed up. Tweaking the pace works wonders.
These students were a great bunch. We'd love to work with them again.
