The side fence needs repairs.
The alley between our shade house and the fence tends to be neglected, sometimes quite badly. As a result, the decay of the windproof netting was ignored for some time until the nursery manager made a point of telling the management committee about it and showing us how bad it was and how shaky the supporting structure was.
hat was last Tuesday. Today, 12th May 2022, we started work on it. We had quite a lot of clearing to do. Ferns and trees had grown through the fence and had to be cut back. Most of the work was done by only 3 of us as there wasn't much room. How far we will go with the repairs remains to be seen. Ideally, we would get a whole new pergola, but we may need funding for it. Ground-treated posts of the size required are expensive.

Time passes. Bruce finishes his current work, and starts planning the renewal of the pergola and frost covering that has now deteriorated beyond repair. It turns out to be a major job involving completely rebuilding the structure using the correct materials. It takes nearly 3 months, and Bruce has help from Harold and Graham.
