DownloadA few of our members have been very ill with the bugs that are about this winter and we hope they are all on the mend now that spring is Here.
We have now planted all of the trees that we had planned to plant this year .With the help of from many different people we have planted more than 2,549 at last count.
What a winter we have had with the Rain always falling when we planned a planting by the students from the High School. We have managed to get all the planned plantings complete. It was arranged that the students would be able to do more than just plant trees so for a change one class did mulching and another class did a potting on session at the nursery.
We have been very busy since our last newsletter.
Half the Cambridge High School first year students have so far been on various projects, planting trees, mulching around previous plantings and, when the weather was unsuitable, in our nursery shed potting on plants for later planting. They have been very interested in what we have been doing and there have been some searching questions asked. Their behaviour has been excellent.
Here we are into May and moisture levels have increased so its time to start planting.
We have been caught on the hop a bit with the Cambridge High School as we had hoped that the Oak Arboretum would be ready for them this year to plant, but we have grave reservations that there is going to be some major hold up with the plans for this Park. They are not of our making but the higher authority, Landscape Committee.
